Maharishi Sandipani was a highly respected sage, renowned for his wisdom, discipline, and deep spiritual knowledge.
His Ashram was a center of Vedic learning where divine and royal students were trained.
Maharishi Sandipani Ashram in Ujjain is the sacred learning place of Lord Krishna, Balram, and Sudama, reflecting the ancient Guru–Shishya Parampara. Located on the banks of the Shipra River, the Ashram is one of Ujjain’s most revered spiritual centers, known for its mythological significance, peaceful environment, and cultural heritage. 🪔 1. Gomti Kund: Gomti Kund is one of the most sacred and historically significant places inside the Ashram premises. According to ancient belief, Lord Krishna collected holy waters from all major pilgrimage sites and brought them here, so that Guru Sandipani would not need to travel for ritual purposes. Devotees consider bathing at Gomti Kund highly purifying and spiritually uplifting.
🕉️ 2. Sarveshwar Mahadev Temple : Within the Ashram stands the ancient Sarveshwar Mahadev Temple, a revered shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that this temple was established by Lord Krishna Himself as a gesture of devotion during His stay at the Ashram. The temple radiates peace, spiritual energy, and divine presence, attracting thousands of devotees throughout the year.
✍️ 3. Ankpat Area : The Ankpat area is a unique and sacred spot where, according to legends, Lord Krishna practiced writing numbers (ank) during His education. This place symbolizes the ancient Gurukul learning environment and carries the essence of the Guru–Shishya tradition.

Ancient Inscriptions & Idols : The Ashram is adorned with beautiful idols of Maharishi Sandipani, Lord Krishna, Balram, and Sudama, reflecting the divine history and rich heritage of this sacred place. Several ancient inscriptions and stone carvings can also be seen here, each highlighting the cultural and spiritual significance of the Ashram.
